A resort experience integrated seamlessly with the land of this “lost” island. The magnificent culture and customs that have inhabited Sumba for many centuries is reflected in the natural Sumbanese limestone rocks, local hardwoods, handcrafted carvings and world-renowned Ikat weavings. Set on a pristine two-kilometer stretch of beach, the resort feels like you’ve stepped back in time without having to sacrifice any creature comforts.
Through our close work with local kampungs (villages) we have been invited to bring limited numbers of guests to see how they live and experience their daily life, and occasionally, some of their sacred practices and ceremonies.
We offer a variety of unique experiences along pristine white sand beaches, clear crystal blue water, and a stunning, untouched landscape to create the perfect setting for your Sumbanese horse riding journey. Enjoy an early sunrise ride as a perfect way to start your day, or a breathtaking sunset beach ride to finish it. Or our favorite Swimming horses while riding bareback, an experience to remember.
Un-crowded waves are aplenty on this enchanting swathe of Sumbanese coastline. We have three waves right out the front of the resort and and many more within a boat or bike ride.
The resort grounds sit alongside some of the finest beaches in the world. There are seven in close proximity, many of them connected to our resort and private reserve. Guests will often have a beach to themselves for the day, enjoying a sense of remoteness rarely found in the world. Private sunset dinners can be arranged for those special occasions, or simply just because.

No matter your level or desire, we have you covered. From extreme hill climbs with stunning vistas, to gently winding downhills through megalithic villages and rice paddy valleys. Maybe an easy sunset meander across our 100 hectare reserve or a half-day adventure through the rugged and enchanting landscape of Sumba.
There are magnificent waterfalls within a 45 minute drive from the resort, which takes you through the beautiful Wanukaka valley. Fully guided tours are availble to Lapopu and Matayangu waterfall, or take the adventure on your own!
